The Greta Seam has been mined in the South Maitland Coalfield since 1886. The local community has a strong and proud association with coal mining history and tradition. Austar Coal Mine continues this legacy and is the last remaining mine to produce coal from the Greta Seam.
Our Product
The Greta Seam is well renowned for the high quality of its coal. Austar Coal Mine produces a premium coking coal. It is characterized as the highest fluidity and lowest ash coking coal in Australia with low phosphorous and low alkaline. The Greta Seam at Austar Coal Mine is typically 4.8 - 6.5m thick.
